As the first and last point of call the Front of House is a key employee for driving business by up selling retail and services that are being booked. Utilization of the whole appointment system and of individual stylist columns therefore means maximization stylist resource and salon turnover.
The ideal receptionist needs to represent the P&J Palmer brand values, quality, passion, creativity and professionalism in all aspects of behavior, for example dress language and attitude at work. Receptionist must be highly diplomatic, discrete and trustworthy with strong sale techniques and must be a positive team player.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Expertise:
Communication and people skills to inspire, inform, encourage and resolve issues
Sharp, on the ball, good common sense skills, able to multi task and work well under pressure.
Ideally have worked in high-pressure customer care environment.
Understanding all aspects of the hairdressing industry and of changing fashions and trends
Keeping up to date with new collections within the hairdressing industry
Being aware of stylist timing and capability on the salon floor.
Open minded to learning new skills and the ability to pass these on.
Impact influence and key relationships:
Clientele - being seen in control, and an ambassador of P&J Palmer
Salon manager- work closely to ensure tasks set are carried out within the working salon.
Stylists-ensure timing of appointments reflect capabilities
Assistants-salon maintains the P&J Palmer brand principles throughout the working day.

Main responsibilities
Customer Care
Ensuring all services provided is to the P&J Palmer standard/brand principles and improvements are continually sought through feedback from the team and clientele.
Complaints/queries to be recognized and solved with the support from their managers on decisions made.
Salon organization and planning
Overseeing efficient time management and utilization of the whole appointment system and of individual stylist columns therefore means maximization of stylist resource and salon turnover.
Front of house rotas and cover.
Monitoring appointment book and ensuring the salon has right number of different level stylists at the busiest times, and days off at the quieter times. Calling in more staff if required.
Sales
Salon turnover - analyzing and knowing past and current performance and identifying ways to improve and informing manager.
Retail sales - off the street sales and advice. Reviewing current ranges and promotions for feedback to manager
Daily cash up - Efficient and accurate daily reports Salon operations
Keeping the P&J Palmer brand principles maintained within the salon
The completion of Salon risk assessments, health and safety issues are carried out on a daily basis
Other duties
Assisting manager in projects and requests
Assisting manager is salon security, opening and locking the salon.
